Desert Barrels (The Surf Spot), began long ago as a dream of an 8 year old girl; that girl was me, Daniela Deberge.
I spent every second I could on the beach, watching people surf, I hung out at the local surf bar with real surfers; after I gravitated to
hanging out at the local surf shop, Costa Azul.
Formed by Rob Green and take over by Alex Olea; I eventually ended up working there for over a decade.
With their help, I began to surf, to photograph surfers;ruined about 8 of my mother`s Nikons by age of 10 I imagine…
Always looking for that angle. As I grew, so did my love for the art of surf and the challenge of capturing of that one irreplaceable moment of a local for locals. As well as follow my path as a surf photographer.
Fast foward ten or so years. One evening during a drive back from a surf session on the I yelled, “Stop the Truck!” ( I was well know for this ); On the pacific side BCS, I climbed atop my Toyota and just as the sun was setting, I achieved it, I capture the perfect wave, the perfect moment.
Two perfect barrels framed by two huge Cardon Catai. And so it was born; this dream of a little girl, “Desert Barrels The Surf Spot” By a local for locals, from my family to yours.
